Work in progress – Wanderers

The right arm is now completed, and the sword has a much propper scale

Since late february, I’m working on a new project. I have been commissioned to do an antropomorphic crow with two companions. The piece must have swords involved.

Here is the different steps I went trough.

  • Draft of a woodcarved humanoid crow wearing a hooded cloak.
  • The face of the corvid is now more detailed
  • A first shoulder armor is added
  • The face is now black, the wood was burnt and painted
  • The piece has now the first part of its right arm, and a sword
  • The right arm is now completed, and the sword has a much propper scale
  • The bottom part is more detailed. Its has bird like legs.
  • The piece has a bit more overall details
  • The legs are more detailed, Little plates like birds have on the right leg. The piece has now a complete left arm, resting along the body.
  • The piece is a bit less rough and sanded.

This mainly basswood, and some pieces of « ebony » found on a flea market. The face and the legs are burnt and painted.

The main difficulty is to assemble all the parts together, but the clothes help to hide the junctions.
